Integration Planning

planetary gear reducer

Before specifying a planetary gear reducer, resolve shaft loads, gear geometry versus duty, and the acceptance record that will be used at FAT or SAT. Integration Planning here is a procurement dossier, not an engineering stamp and not a compliance certificate for the whole driven line.

Decision topic: Acceptance basis

Decision dossier

Acceptance basis

Acceptance basis: Upstream
Lock input speed, connected load, motor adapter or pinion interface, and whether backlash is a quantified limit. Upstream documents should include the driven-machine inertia estimate so starting torque is not guessed in the quote.
Control boundary
Ask for continuous and peak output torque, thermal rating at the stated duty cycle, mounting position, and radial plus axial loads imposed by the driven equipment. PLC interface, if a gearmotor package is quoted, is a controls item and should not silently expand the reducer price.
Downstream
Define the first-good checks: no-load temperature, seal tightness, noise observation if specified, and spare-parts identification for the sold ratio. Downstream SAT of the whole line remains the line owner’s contract, separate from this unit dossier.
